ARTIST STATEMENT
Do you like getting lost on purpose? I love it. I always prefer local road – over the highway, and it usually leads me to the most interesting places.
Often, the landscapes I paint come to life as a result of me getting literally lost. There, at the very end of the map in peace and solitude, I can reflect on the surrounding world. Later, back at the studio, I search for ways to transfer my impressions onto the canvas. It has always been my paramount goal to imbue the painting with the emotions, forms, colors or sometimes even with the after-images that the place has left within me.
When creating I like to get lost in various ways looking for and testing new media, forms and techniques. Sometimes from that momentary chaos things emerge which stand in opposition to the calming landscapes that have inspired me beforehand. Surreal demons appear that dwell in most of us, just under the skin or deeper within.
I see art as a path that takes me somewhere. It is my meditation and a way to achieve my peace. I hope there is no end to this path as there should always be something worth discovering.

BLINKERED
Blinkered is a section of the world seen through a photographic lens and translated into the language of abstract painting. Author invites us to engage in aesthetic vivisection of the work and to inspect the hidden details on the surface. It has the effect of dualistic perception where large-format images draw the attention as close to the detail as possible. The “Blinkered” landscapes are heterogeneous, but at same time distinctive scrap of space has been narrowed down to just a few pixels, and then magnified to a large-format image. The figurative is therefore reduced to its basic and most crucial formal essence.
ALL OF MY DEMONS
I believe everyone has their demons. Some speak about them openly, some strongly disavow them. Everyone has them though. In the world we live in our demons are born easier and faster. They come out of Instagram, Facebook, TV. They emerge on the surface in a traffic jam in the city center, in the office open-space or hatch in city clubs in the morning. They come out of churches, schools, offices and hospitals.
When we start noticing more of them, they overwhelm us, we start to lose the meaning, we get frustrated. We begin to fall into the inner abyss. But we can and should fight it. Name the demons, point your finger at them. Talk about them.
The series I present is my internal attempt to name them. It is a stigmatization of today’s consumerist and selfish world. Named demon is no longer that scary.
