Beneath A Steel Sky (2021)
“There is a raw, honest beauty in the transition between seasons. It is the color of a tired earth under a ceiling of cold metal—a landscape that doesn't need to shout to be felt, holding its breath in the grey silence of February.”
* The Monochromatic Horizon: This monumental 70 x 210 cm contemporary painting is a deep dive into the aesthetics of the "Vistula Gothic." It captures the specific, muted atmosphere of late winter in Poland, where the sky is a heavy, steel-grey shroud and the land is a patchwork of exhausted browns and ashen greys. By utilizing an extreme vertical format on a deep 3D canvas, I have created a towering column of atmosphere that mimics the feeling of being dwarfed by a vast, overcast landscape.
* The Musical Cipher: The title Beneath A Steel Sky acts as a somber coordinate in my "sonic diary." It references a track—and perhaps the dystopian stillness of the classic cyberpunk narrative—defined by industrial textures and a slow, atmospheric drone. I invite the collector to find the auditory "cold" within these textured glazes; only when the music’s steady, mechanical pulse aligns with the scratched, vertical rhythms of the paint is the true, "steely" frequency of this winter's end unlocked.
* Minimalist Resilience: Executed on a premium 3D canvas, the work thrives on a restricted, nearly monochromatic palette. Using unconventional DIY tools—from wide steel scrapers to coarse cloths—I built a surface that mimics the grit of thawing earth and the density of low-hanging clouds. This abstract landscape serves as a grounding architectural element, bringing a sense of stoic calm, focus, and the quiet, unyielding power of the natural cycle into a modern interior.
