Children Of A Lesser God (2023)
“There is a raw, aching beauty in the last sunset of summer. It is the moment when the light stops being a caress and starts being a fire, burning against the encroaching dark as if to protest the coming of the frost.”
* The September Glow: This 90 x 170 cm contemporary painting captures the heavy, electric atmosphere of a late summer evening. It depicts a searing horizon line—where the sun has already dipped below the forest, leaving a jagged, fiery afterglow of crimson and burnt orange. By applying the Blinkered method on a tall 3D linen canvas, I have created a vertical tension that emphasizes the weight of the darkening sky pressing down on the last remnants of warmth.
* The Musical Cipher: The title Children Of A Lesser God is a stark coordinate in my "sonic diary." It references a track that pairs a deep, cinematic drone with a haunting, lonely melody—capturing that specific feeling of being small under a vast, changing sky. I invite the collector to feel the auditory gravity within these dark glazes; only when the music’s somber, industrial pulse aligns with the scorched textures of the horizon is the true, "obsidian" frequency of this September night unlocked.
* Vertical Drama: Executed on a premium 3D linen canvas, the work utilizes its narrow, elongated format to pull the viewer’s eye toward the "fire" at its center. Using unconventional DIY tools—from heavy industrial scrapers to coarse sponges—I built a high-contrast surface where the light seems to be struggling to survive between a black-ink sky and a cold, ochre earth. This abstract landscape is a powerful statement piece, offering a sense of dramatic transition and the quiet, melancholic luxury of a season’s end.
