Come Rain, Come Thunder (2025)
“The frozen lake is a mirror for the soul. It doesn't show you who you are today, but reminds you of everything that has already passed—and everything that is yet to weather the storm.”
The Eternal Threshold: This monumental 150 x 200 cm 3D linen canvas is a profound meditation on transience. It captures a cold, mist-shrouded lakeshore where the treeline begins to dissolve into the grey ether. By applying the Blinkered method to this wintry landscape, I have transformed a literal view of nature into a rhythmic, horizontal map of existence—a visual requiem for the seasons of life.
The Musical Cipher: The title Come Rain, Come Thunder serves as a stoic anthem within my "sonic diary." It is a direct link to a track or a lyrical passage that echoes the resilience needed to face the "cold" periods of our lives. I invite the collector to seek the auditory counterpart to these icy teals and bone-greys; only when the music’s stoicism aligns with the texture of the linen is the true synergy of the work’s emotional depth unlocked.
A Topography of Frost: To capture the biting, misty air of a freezing morning, I applied dozens of translucent glazes using unconventional tools like DIY sponges and rags. The 3D linen canvas provides a physical weight to the work, allowing the deep, dark indigos at the base to ground the ethereal, foggy whites of the sky. This piece is designed to be a "reflective anchor" for large contemporary spaces, offering a sanctuary for thought and a silent witness to the passing of time.
