Free Falling (2024)
“There is a moment in the descent where fear turns into flight. It’s the point where you stop fighting the earth and start trusting the air, wrapped in the soft, pink glow of a world that has finally let you go.”
* The Weightless Transition: This 60 x 73 cm abstract landscape on a 3D linen canvas is a poignant study in balance. It captures a sky in the peak of a "dusty rose" sunset, hovering over a dark, grounded horizon that seems to pull the viewer’s gaze downward. By applying the Blinkered method, I have distilled this vertical tension into a series of soft, horizontal layers, where the warmth of the ether meets the cool, charcoal depths of the soil.
* The Musical Cipher: The title Free Falling serves as a rhythmic anchor in my "sonic diary." It references a specific track—one characterized by a sense of surrender and a slow, melodic descent—that dictated the tempo of the brushwork. I invite the collector to find the music within these translucent pinks and moody greys; only when the sound’s emotional gravity aligns with the texture of the linen is the true synergy of the work’s message unlocked.
* Atmospheric Friction: Executed on a heavy 3D linen canvas, the work has a sculptural presence that emphasizes the "drop" between the sky and the ground. Using unconventional DIY tools like sponges and rags, I built layers of color that appear to bleed and blur into one another, mimicking the visual distortion of movement. This contemporary painting is designed to be a meditative focus point, offering a sense of calm release and the beauty of finding peace in the middle of a fall.
