Higher Grounds (2025)
“A sunrise is a crescendo. It is the moment when the world stops whispering in shadows and starts to sing in gold. This is the promise of a day that belongs entirely to you.”
* The Vertical Dawn: Standing at a magnificent 270 x 140 cm, this monumental work is an immersive experience of a summer sunrise over an Italian lake. The extreme vertical format mimics the rising energy of the sun as it climbs above the alpine peaks, casting a warm, rose-gold glow over the still waters. It is a visual celebration of "becoming"—a transition from the quiet of the night to the boundless potential of a summer day.
* The Musical Cipher: The title Higher Grounds is a deliberate entry in my "sonic diary," echoing a rhythm of elevation and hope. It hides a reference to a specific track or a melodic hook that dictated the expansive, sweeping strokes needed to fill such a vast surface. I invite the collector to seek the auditory counterpart to these burning oranges and soft pinks; only then is the full synergy of the work’s triumphant tempo unlocked.
* Light as Matter: Executed on premium linen, this piece uses its massive scale to manipulate the light within a room. Through the application of hundreds of translucent layers using DIY sponges and rags, I have created a "kaleidoscopic" sunrise that feels alive. The deep, grounded earth tones at the base give way to an ethereal, glowing sky, making the canvas act as a permanent source of warmth and morning optimism for large-scale contemporary interiors.
