One Of Those Days (2024)
“There is a moment after the storm when the world holds its breath. The rain stops being a noise and starts being a scent—that raw, electric smell of wet earth and pine needles that tells you the air has been reborn.”
* The Post-Storm Petrichor: This 60 x 73 cm contemporary painting is a sensory immersion into a rain-drenched forest. It captures the heavy, humid atmosphere immediately following a downpour, where the sky remains a bruised, misty white and the forest line is a saturated blur of deep blues and oxidized ambers. By applying the Blinkered method, I have distilled the verticality of falling water into a series of rhythmic, translucent "drips" that mimic the way rain continues to fall from the canopy long after the clouds have cleared.
* The Musical Cipher: The title One Of Those Days acts as a melodic anchor within my "sonic diary." It references a track that captures a melancholic yet cleansing mood—the kind of music that feels like looking through a window at a storm. I invite the collector to find the auditory clarity within these watery glazes; only when the music’s soft, echoing piano or steady bass aligns with the physical "streaks" on the linen is the true, refreshing frequency of this forest sanctuary unlocked.
* Liquid Texture: Executed on premium linen canvas, the work utilizes the natural absorbency of the fabric to create a soft, bled-out effect. Using unconventional DIY tools—from fine-mist sprayers to gravity-led pouring—I allowed the acrylic glazes to find their own path down the canvas, creating an organic "curtain of rain." This abstract landscape is designed for a space that values introspection and the quiet, revitalizing power of nature’s most basic elements.
