ABOUT ME

Łukasz Olek (bron in Warsaw, 1982) is a painter, illustrator and creator of applied graphics. Initially devoted to monochromatism – using traditional drawing techniques: pencil and ink – with time, he discovered the wealth of color possibilities offered by acrylic paints. Among his creations, you can find both large-format abstractions, kept in cool colors, as well as figurative painting with turpistic, dark portraits.
Olek is fascinated by the works of Francis Bacon, Mark Rothko, and Lucian Freud. His works are in-depth studies of texture and color, using original materials and painting media. They were presented at several exhibitions, collective and individual, and have found buyers in many countries all over the world.

INSPIRATIONS

See what inspires me to create this series. I try to show the landscapes not only in a literal way, but above all I wish to share with the recipient the emotions that accompanied me at the given moment. The landscapes of the Blinkered series will bring peace to your home.

INTERVIEW

The following interview is a mix of interviews given over the last few years. I combined it into one, hoping that it would be more interesting than any other individually. As usual, I’m talking nonsense.

Why do we need art in our homes and offices? What sorts of emotions can art bring to interiors?

There are many good answers to those questions. I’ve met people who fell in love with a painting because it transported them to long-forgotten places or reminded them of the last vacation with their deceased parents. I’ve also met clients who decided to buy piece of art because it matched the cushions in their living room.

STUDIO

My studio is located in Stara Miłosna near Warsaw. It is open to visitors and you can usually count on good coffee, good whiskey and average company. Sometimes I’m there during the day, mostly at night. I insist that you call and announce your visit.
