Hopeless Place (2023)
“Autumn is a beautiful lie. It’s the forest wearing its most brilliant golds and fiery ambers just as the breath of winter begins to turn the air to iron. It is a place of transition—where the warmth is blinding, but the shadows are already cold.”
* The Final Incandescence: This monumental 150 x 200 cm contemporary painting captures the visceral tension of a late autumnal sunset. The composition is split between a heavy, leaden sky and a "burning" forest line, where the last leaves turn to liquid gold and deep rust. By applying the Blinkered method on a massive 3D linen canvas, I have created a landscape that feels like a wall of fire trapped beneath a cooling atmosphere, reflecting that specific moment when the smell of woodsmoke meets the first frost.
* The Musical Cipher: The title Hopeless Place acts as a melancholic paradox within my "sonic diary." It references a track that pairs a soaring, euphoric melody with lyrics of isolation. I invite the collector to find the auditory friction within these heavy textures; only when the music’s intense, vibrating rhythm aligns with the dark, sediment-like base of the canvas is the true, "bittersweet" frequency of this dying light unlocked.
* Textural Gravity: Executed on a grand-scale 3D linen canvas, the work thrives on its physical depth. Using unconventional DIY tools—wide industrial scrapers and jagged sponges—I built a high-contrast surface where the "glow" is physically scratched into the darker layers. This abstract landscape serves as a powerful atmospheric anchor, bringing the raw, untamed energy of a changing season into a modern space with the authority of a museum-grade piece.
