Half Past Noon (2024)
“There is a stillness that only occurs when the sun reaches its peak. It is the hour where shadows disappear, and the sky becomes a soft, radiant vessel for a warmth that feels like it will last forever.”
* The High-Noon Glow: This 60 x 73 cm contemporary painting is a luminous study of overhead light. It captures the sky at its most expansive, where thick, cumulus clouds are saturated with a palette of dusty roses, warm creams, and pale, sun-bleached ambers. By applying the Blinkered method, I have distilled this vertical radiance into a horizontal meditation, turning the blinding glare of midday into a soft, approachable glow.
* The Musical Cipher: The title Half Past Noon is a rhythmic marker within my "sonic diary." It references a track with a steady, uplifting tempo that mirrors the unwavering brightness of the midday sun. I invite the collector to find the auditory warmth within these pulsating pinks; only when the music’s airy resonance aligns with the physical grain of the linen is the true, sun-drenched frequency of this work unlocked.
* Radiant Haze: Executed on premium linen canvas, the work’s surface is built from dozens of paper-thin, translucent glazes. Using unconventional DIY tools—from soft sponges to feathered rags—I’ve created a "kaleidoscopic" depth that allows the light to bounce between the layers of paint. This abstract landscape acts as a permanent source of warmth for any interior, evoking the timeless feeling of a summer afternoon spent looking straight into the heart of the sky.
