Shallow End (2023)
“There is a fragile beauty in a poppy field at dawn. Before the sun fully wakes, the red is not a color, but a pulse—a rhythmic heartbeat thrumming beneath a heavy blanket of silver mist.”
* The Pulse of the Field: This 110 x 140 cm abstract landscape is a sensory immersion into a meadow of poppies at daybreak. It captures the moment when the morning fog is at its thickest, muting the landscape into soft, ethereal pinks and creamy ivories, while the vibrant reds of the flowers bleed upward from the base. By applying the Blinkered method on a deep 3D linen canvas, I have distilled the "shallow end" of the field into a series of vertical, liquid streaks that mimic the organic stems and the heavy, moisture-laden air of a summer morning.
* The Musical Cipher: The title Shallow End serves as a rhythmic anchor in my "sonic diary." It references a track that balances a deep, driving bassline with light, airy synth melodies. I invite the collector to find the auditory contrast within these layers; only when the music’s steady, "blooming" tempo matches the saturated crimsons and delicate rose glazes is the true, vibrating frequency of this floral sanctuary unlocked.
* Floral Abstraction: Executed on a premium 3D linen canvas, the work utilizes the natural texture of the fabric to anchor its bold color palette. Using unconventional DIY tools—from fine-mist sprayers to wide industrial scrapers—I created a surface where the paint seems to "climb" and dissolve simultaneously. This contemporary paintingacts as a window to a perpetual morning, bringing a sense of warmth, growth, and the quiet energy of a waking world into any modern space.
